FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!

I made a decision to become more active and live a healthier lifestyle. Being a consultant puts a lot of pressure on your willpower and your body. The stress of traveling (domestically or internationally) and always eating out is the worst. Since I've been on a "local" contract, I've realized that there are some things that I feel I need to get a grasp on before they get out of control.

1) Getting off work and going home just to eat and watch t.v.
2) Eating before I go to sleep.
3) Having two jobs and not rewarding myself with a little bit of "me" time.
4) Pushing a size 16.

I surfed the web for gyms and activities that I would possible like to be involved in that would not conflict with my two jobs. I found Bikrams yoga and a local boxing club. I absolutely hate gyms so, that was low on the totem pole . Whenever I go to a gym, I never stay committed. I feel like everyone is watching what everyone else is doing and prancing around instead of focusing on fitness. The guys are checking out the women like a butcher a meat factory. Like a lion about to pounce on it's prey. I just feel like the gym is "so not me" (in my valley girl voice).

So, I joined a boxing club instead. And it has been the best thing since sliced bread. I've never been EXCITED to exercise. I've never looked forward to exercising EVERYDAY!!! I started out exercising 6 days a week and saw fantastic results. The results would have been even more rewarding if I could stop eating these:

I haven't been tracking my progress because I feel like I'll be obsessed with it. I dont' feel like i've lost very much weight. I actually feel bulkier/heavier due to the muscle i've gained. However, I can tell a big difference in the fit of my clothes around the waist and the chest area.

I never knew how strenuous boxing can really be. I have a new found respect for boxing. Not only does it provide the best cardio workout EVER!!!! It also makes you want to kick some ass!!! lol No no...seriously, it focuses on aerobic, anaerobic, power and muscular endurance. The first time I stepped foot in the ring, I thought I was going to literally die after only one (1) minute. I felt like I had ran my first marathon (and I've never ran a marathon...better yet 5 miles non-stop...so imagine that). I was a hot mess. And to top it off, my sparring partner wasn't even hitting me. So, imagine how exhausted I would have been if I was being hit at the same time. I probably would have collapsed after 30seconds.

Also, Jumping Rope........lawd jesus....

When we were kids, jumping rope was the sh--. Ummmm, have you ever tried jumping rope for 3 minutes straight? If you haven't.....trust and believe....that is something that will make you want to give up QUICK!!! Try it if you don't believe me. Tell me about it.....I'll wait.

It feels good to occasionally release tension through a good ole' punch. On top of training, I still find time to participate in the cardio boxing classes and the total body workout. However, I am really leaning toward learning more about the sport outside of just exercising. I will be re-conditioning to start amateur boxing classes due to a recent surgury. I had a lipoma removed from the upper left part of my arm recently (3/6) and can't get back to my full potential until about 8 weeks. I have about two more weeks to go. It still feels a little funny when I throw a jab. I guess I'm just going to chill and listen to the doctor. I mean, after all, he is a doctor.

Oh yeah, now I wear a size 10.

Stay tuned....

YAY!!!!

I feel you on the gym thing...I've always disliked them cause it was more of a social event. Not to mention I couldn't commit either. Video workouts have become my best friends these days...if I could just stay on track..LOL!!!!

Size 10??!!! And you don't think you've lost weight??!!!! You go with your bad self!!!!

How long have you been going to the classes?

Hey lady,

I've been attending the classes for about 6 months now. I don't feel like I've lost any weight. I feel bulkier. But, since all my clothes are too big, I guess i'll roll with it!lol
